Do buy here pay here cars come with a warranty?

Often not. Most used cars at these lots are sold as-is, which means once you drive away every repair is yours — even if something fails the same week.

Federal law requires a Buyers Guide sticker in the window of every used car on a dealer's lot, and it has to say whether the car is as-is or comes with a warranty. Read it before you talk about payments. If it says as-is, that's the deal, and a salesperson's verbal reassurance doesn't override the sticker.

Some lots do include a limited warranty — often thirty days or a short mileage cap, and often powertrain only, meaning engine and transmission but not the air conditioning, the electrics or the suspension. Others sell an optional service contract, which is a separate product with its own cost and its own exclusions. If a warranty is offered, get the specifics in writing: what's covered, for how long, and who does the repairs.

Because of all that, a pre-purchase inspection is the real protection. Pay your own mechanic to look at it before you sign — it costs little against a car you'll be paying for two years, and it tells you what you're actually buying. Any lot that won't let you take it for an inspection has answered a different question for you.
